Eye Checkup - Retinal Detachment

Went for my eye checkup this afternoon, and i finally know that what's wrong with my eye - retinal detachment. Going for an eye checkup is definately not fun...After I was told that I have retinal detachment, then went to take photos for my eye...It was really a torture...Imagine using a camera and flash just right in front of your eye, and for more than 5 times. Other than that, try to imagine there is a torchlight glaring into your eyes with your eyes open widely and moving around...for more than 15 minutes...argh...You guys better protect your eyes and don't let it hurt. Not only you will suffer from the checkup, and also the surgery fees...guess how much i have to pay? AUD$10,000...no kidding..have to go find out how much OSHC is going to pay me back..So, if you ever have children, ask them to study medical.

Besides, I really scare of the surgery, partly because it will be only local anesthetic, not general anesthetic...argh !!! The surgery is vitrectomy which i dunno what is that, the only thing i know is they going to put 2 things into my eyes...yiak !! The ophthalmologist will locate the retinal tears and use laser surgery to seal the tear. The whole surgery will need 35 minutes, it may sound simple compared to those heart or brain surgery, however, there are risks involved too.

Risks:
Infection
Bleeding
High pressure in the eye
Cataract

Hopefully one surgery is enough because sometimes a second operation is needed because the scarring of the retina may pull the retina and cause it to re-detach. Sounds scarry......After the surgery, i need to keep my head in a certain position, which is my face facing downwards, that means when i go toilet, walking on the st. , sleeping , reading also must be in that positon..how cham am i ........
